The presentation was part of the training teaching methodology for doctoral candidates from the HumanIC project, authored by Manuel Carlos Gameiro da Silva from the University of Coimbra. It explores how engineering education must adapt to the rise of Artificial Intelligence by shifting toward higher-order skills, mentorship, and active, hands-on learning frameworks. Rather than viewing AI as a threat that makes professors disposable, the presentation argues for emphasizing higher-order thinking, relationship-driven mentorship, and contextualized knowledge while integrating AI as a pedagogical tool. Using Indoor Environmental Quality as a practical case study, it maps active learning methodologies across thermal comfort, indoor air quality, acoustics, and visual environments against Bloom’s Taxonomy and Dale’s Learning Pyramid, demonstrating how interactive problem-solving, data analytics, and virtual lab tools empower students to reach the highest cognitive levels of evaluation and creation.
